Austrian Pavilion - Venice, Italy

How private philanthropy helped realise one of the most talked-about artistic visions.

Funding Model Fundraising Strategy Revenue Diversification

Context

A performance artist representing her country at the Venice Biennale who needed to secure major philanthropy to bring her ambition to life. The public grant covered only a fraction of the ambition; the remainder depended on engaging the right patrons while protecting the artist's independence and artistic vision.

Our role

We developed the philanthropic strategy behind the campaign, identifying the patrons most closely aligned with the artist's practice and shaping the case for support around the work itself. Beyond fundraising, we advised on the broader ecosystem of relationships surrounding the project, ensuring philanthropy complemented rather than competed with other forms of support.

Outcome

The pavilion was fully funded ahead of the opening. Widely recognised as one of the standout presentations of the 2026 Venice Biennale, it also marked the beginning of several long-term patron relationships that continue to support the artist's practice, extending its impact well beyond the exhibition.
